TOP FUEL: FILTERS FUNNELS FLOWS
Top Fuel: Filters Funnels Flows is a series of events exploring the theme of performance as it transforms and advances the architectural design of building components and systems. Each spring for three consecutive years, the USC School of Architecture will host a week-long design-build workshop, in conjunction with special lectures, exhibitions, and panel discussions. A pamphlet will be produced each year that documents these events as well as presents topical scholarship.
Top Fuel 2012: Funnels
19 March – 26 March 2012
Top Fuel: Funnels will focus on pneumatic structures, exploring relationships between form, structure and environmental performance. Achim Menges of the Institute for Computational Design at Stuttgart University with Thomas Auer of Transsolar Klimaengineering will lead a week-long intensive design-build workshop, during which students will design and fabricate full-scale building components utilizing advanced computational modeling and analysis. Check this website periodically for updates.
