About the Symposium

The Fourth Annual USC Symposium on Building Information Modeling (BIM) Analytics

The USC School of Architecture (Prof. Karen Kensek) is hosting a BIM + SYMPOSIUM on Wednesday, August 4th, 2010. Building on the success of previous years’ symposiums on BIM and Sustainable Design and BIM + Construction and Fabrication, there will be a one-day event with 11 speakers, each with about 30 minutes to speak, who are loosely organized into 4 panels. The topic is BIM Analytics: Performance Based Design.

Accommodation

For participants that need accommodation, there is a Radisson Hotel right across the street from USC, and a Vagabond Inn less than 15 minutes walking distance. There are also lots of nice hotels in downtown Los Angeles including the JW Marriott Los Angeles.

The DASH F bus is $0.35 and goes to USC near the corner of Vermont and Entrance 6 (36th Place). Check the DASH website to see if it is convenient from your hotel.

USC Architecture Executive Education

BIM Analytics is being held August 4th. Please also consider attending EXECUTIVE EDUCATION: August 2nd and 3rd . These seminars are targeted for the upper management of firms -- architecture, construction, real estate, owners, business managers, others who prefer a smaller, dialogue based session -- please refer others in your firm or your colleagues who might be interested in the unique event.

This year, we have launched five course offerings centered on the theme of Los Angeles as a 21st century model of critical urbanism, creativity, and culture. These courses will explore a set of strategically themed topics, connecting over a dozen of the most forward thinking global practitioners, politicians, and urban theorists today with our own faculty. One of the two-day sessions is themed around building information modeling (BIM). This is a unique opportunity to interact in a small group (30 maximum attendees) with leaders in the profession, in a session focusing on dialogue and debate.
